Now, making the decision to put your house up on the market and choosing the right real estate agent is all well and good. These are all necessary decisions to make when you are ready to sell your house and move on from it. However, there are a number of things that you need to do – you, for the benefit of yourself and your family.

You see, if you have a lot of time vested in the house that you are getting ready to vacate, then you are naturally going to have some emotional reactions. It can be painful, no matter how excited you may be about moving away. The next couple of posts in this series are going to deal with how you can make this whole process easier emotionally. For starters, you need to disassociate yourself from your house.

In spite of how much it might pain you to do so, you need to realize that this is no longer your home. It has become a product. You need to start thinking about how it is going to feel when you give the keys to the new owners and everything like that. You need to start preparing to say good bye. Remember, you will be taking your feelings about your home with you – they will never be sold or given away.
